This week's activity:
A Spring tree! (to stick up on the classroom wall)
You will need:
- 2x pieces A3 green coloured cardboard paper
- 3x pieces A4 brown/black couloured cardboard paper
- Pictures of spring animals/flowers about the size of your palm for each child to stick on the tree
- Glue, scissors, prestik
- Stick the 2 pieces of green A3 paper together and cut the newly formed page out into the shape of a puffy cloud (the leafy part of the tree).
2. Next, put glue onto the top rim of each A4 page and stick them together so that they end up creating a long rectangle (the trunk).
3. Finally, add a touch of glue to the top part of the trunk and stick the leafy part of the tree on top of the top part of the trunk, making a tree.
- If you want, you can cut on the very edge of either side of the trunk to make the tree look more barky and less symmetrical.
- You can also cut out an oval shape in a darker brown or black and stick it on the trunk to make a hollow in the tree if the tree is looking a bit bare.
This end product will be stuck up on the classroom wall. The children can now colour in palm-sized pictures of butterflies, birds, nests, bees, ladybirds and flowers and once they are finished their picture, you can help them to stick it with prestik onto the tree, creating a bright colourful SPRING TREE in the classroom for the children to enjoy.
